Alirajpur is one of the 50 districts of Madhya Pradesh state in India. Alirajpur is a city and a municipality in Alirajpur district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India.The district was carved out from the erstwhile Jhabua district on May 17, 2008 by incorporating Alirajpur, Jobat and Bhavra tehsils of it.The district is also famous for wood carvings which display exquisite and beautiful craftsmanship.

Alirajpur has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 58% of the males and 42% of females literate.
