Shivpuri City India

Shivpuri is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.It was formerly known as Sipri.Shivpuri's dense forests were the hunting grounds of the Mughal emperors. Important towns in the district are Badarwas, Karera, Khaniyadhana, Kolaras, Narwar and Pichhore.Shivpuri District formed Narwar District of the erstwhile princely state of Gwalior.

Shivpuri has an average elevation of 468 metres.As of 2001 India census, Shivpuri had a population of 146,859. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Shivpuri has an average literacy rate of 66%.
